Web Stalkers
Chapter 2 -
Understanding Web Personalities
Assessing IQ on the
Web
Assessing IQ comes in handy in many instances.
One such instance would be if one were approached by a con artist
posing as a “professional.” Many of these posers will deliberately
introduce big words or famous quotes into a conversation in an
effort to impress others with their high-level of knowledge. They
can be very adept at using Google to find synonymous words, but
terrible at fashioning a coherent sentence. This type of criminal
should immediately be considered dangerous because they are
deliberately attempting to mislead.
Willful deception is always a major red flag,
and users should always be very wary of anyone who is posing
as someone or something that they are not.
The first step here is a non-scientific foray
into web IQ assessment that consists of looking at some actual
examples. Some readers may remember Carroll O’Connor, the brilliant
actor who played Archie Bunker in the hit 1970’s sitcom All in
the Family. Prior to his acting career, O’Connor was a High
School English teacher and was often amazed at his students’
inappropriate use of the English language. He would later
incorporate some of these memorable sayings into his character’s
dialogue.
-
“We need a basinoon for the baby”
-
“That’s just female intermission.
They know what we’re thinking”
-
“You need to go see the groinocologist”
-
“My job ain't got nothing to do with
thinking, and I'm very good at it”
-
“They were making suppository remarks
about my intelligence”
-
“Sticks and stones may break my
bones, but you are one dumb Polock”
