Performance Appraisal Measurements
The official performance measurement device for
most IT organizations is the annual employee performance appraisal
. Computer professionals should not only be measured on the
traditional core aspects of work performance of quantity and quality
of work, but also on all the intangibles which are just as
important in appraising their contributions and how they go about
accomplishing their work. All of these measurements may enter into the
decision process for disciplinary action or termination of IT
employees and are detailed below.
Values
Are values
exhibited in daily work
activities? Are all associates treated equally and fairly among
themselves?
There are IT employees who are not upfront with
their co-workers and managers. They would say nice things in front of
them but then bad-mouth them when they weren’t present. Upon occasion,
nasty comments such as “you’re stupid as an ox,” “you are an idiot,”
“you should find another job” and so forth are exchanged between IT
employees. In the workplace, many people have also seen arms flailing,
beet red faces that look as if they are about to explode, eyes that
appear ready to pop, and other aggressive gestures as unprofessional
confrontations took place. Everyone deserves to be treated with basic
dignity. The employer should work to build a culture of values in the
workplace.
