Adaptability
Is the employee flexible in adjusting to changing
situations, circumstances, and environments? Does the adjustment occur
within an appropriate timeframe to be effective?
There are computer professionals who are very
rigid in their approach to how they accomplish their work. Many of
these individuals fall under the “it’s my way or the highway”
syndrome. Different issues, projects, and people require different
courses of action at different times. These approaches may need to be
adjusted in order to accomplish the work objectives, although some
computer professionals lack this flexibility. Even if the employee is
capable of adapting to the surrounding environment, can they do it in
time to still meet the objectives? They may just be normally slow to
react or in some instances, intentionally slow to make their point and
make life difficult for their co-workers. This is not behavior that is
conducive to a productive work environment.
