Administration
Overview
This important tutorial is an overview of
Oracle tablespace and datafile administration. The topics in this
tutorial include the characteristics of Oracle file administration,
including Oracle managed files and the Oracle Flexible Architecture (OFA)
standard for Oracle data file placement. This tutorial also includes
topics on Oracle tablespace administration, including read-only
Tablespaces and locally managed tablespace technology.
The student will also understand the
relationship between Oracle files and Oracle Tablespaces, and
understand how to query Oracle's data dictionary in order to gather
the information they need to fully understand the mapping between the
logical data structures and the physical data files within their
Oracle Oracle database.
This tutorial will wrap up with a discussion
of multiple block sizes and Oracle 10g, and the student will
understand how multiple block sizes can be used in order to reduce
disk I/O on their Oracle database engine.
