Oracle Backup & Recovery
This tutorial introduces Oracle backup and
recovery for the Oracle database administrator. The main focus of
this tutorial will be teaching the student the history and evolution
of Oracle backup and recovery, and giving the student a full
understanding of the backup and recovery tools and how they relate to
their Oracle environment.
The main topics of this tutorial includes the
difference between hot and cold Oracle backups, the use of Oracle's
import/export utility for Oracle backup and recovery, and a review of
the major Oracle database recovery scenarios.
This tutorial also take a look at Oracle's
RMAN, and show how RMAN is used within a large Oracle environments to
managing control multiple copies of Oracle backups. This tutorial
will also examine hardware level recovery issues within the Oracle
environment.
This tutorial examines all of the different
backup and recovery options and capabilities, including logical and
physical backups, and the integration of the backup procedures into an
operational schedule. We will also take a look at the issues
surrounding the management of large Oracle databases with a focus on
backup and recovery of very large Oracle systems.
