Administering the Development Environment
Now that creating applications in HTML DB has been
covered in detail, it is time to learn how to administer the
development environment. The HTML DB Administrator is responsible for
the HTML DB instance and has the power over the entire site. Some of
the duties of the administrator are to manage the HTML DB environment,
the workspaces, the users, and security. Only a few people should be
given this privilege.
To manage HTML DB, the administrator will use the
following URL to access the administrator area:
http://localhost:7777/pls/htmldb/htmldb_admin
The hostname
and port are where the HTTP Server has been installed. For more
information, see the chapter on Installing HTML DB. At the login
page, you will use the special username, admin. The password will be
the HTML DB administrator account password that was specified during
the installation of HTML DB. Upon login, the following four icons
will be displayed:
These icons provide the button and on the right
side of the icon, the drop down menu. As the icons imply, this is
where the HTML DB services, workspaces, and applications can be
managed. Also, the activity that has occurred within HTML DB can be
monitored from here.
